Palaeognathae is the 3rd bird generator, and 7th reptile generator, unlocked in the game. It requires Mesozoic Valley Rank 33.

Design[]

Paleognathae has the appearance of an North African Ostrich (Struthio camelus camelus). Two runs around in the Savanna section of the Land garden close to the giraffes (Ungulates), zebras (Ungulates) and the Galapagos tortoises (Turtle); and another two runs around in the Plains section. The Palaeognathae's animation also contains them running.

The Paleognathae makes a calling sound when clicked on.

The Paleognathae has a single Trophy Animal: The Kiwi. The Paleognathae is the only bird with only one Trophy Animal.

Kiwi view

The kiwi hides in some grass.

The Kiwi[]

The kiwi most likely represents the North Island brown kiwi (Apteryx mantelli) as it is the most common kiwi, but it is very hard to tell the species because of its simple design. Two are deep in the Jungle section of the Land garden. One is stood up next to the gorillas (Ape), and another runs around at the deepest part of the jungle and is very hard to see. The kiwi has an animation of walking and pecking the ground.

The kiwi makes no sound when clicked on.

In-Game Description[]

"A group of mostly-flightless birds. They are notable for their pseudo-reptilian palate, proportionately small brains, and for the tendency for male birds to incubate their species' eggs."

Evolution Upgrades[]

All upgrades only require 1 Paleognathae to unlock.

"Kiwis have poor eyesight and rely on their advanced sense of smell for food. They have nostrils at the end of their long beaks, and are able to sniff out prey on the ground."

Kick 250% EntropyEntropy 1.23 E30

"Ostrich's long legs make them powerful runners, and also give them a strong kick. They also have large claws on their front toe, increasing their damage they can do to attackers."

x1 Palaeognathae, Kiwi
Ostriches 375% EntropyEntropy 5.08 E30

"The largest living species of bird, the ostrich is flightless, with a long neck and legs. They are fast runners and lay huge eggs."

Thirst Management 450% EntropyEntropy 1.17 E31

"Due to the scarcity of water, emus have evolved to survive without drinking for many days at a time. When they do finally find a safe source of water, they may drink for up to ten minutes straight at a time."

x1 Palaeognathae, Ostriches
Emu 600% EntropyEntropy 2.05 E31

"Emus are tall flightless birds with long necks and legs. They can run up to 50 kilometers per hour, can go for long periods without eating or drinking water, and feature prominently in Indigenous Australian folklore and mythology."

Achievements[]

Ach Paleoagnathae

Generator Achievements[]

  • Bye-Bye Big Bird (Create 25 Paleoagnathaes):

"Two extinct species of Paleoagnathae are the Moas of New Zealand and the Elephant Birds of Madagascar. Both could grow to over 3 metres tall. Both went extinct many centuries ago due to overhunting."

  • Wingless Wonders (Create 50 Paleoagnathaes):

"Birds of the Paleoagnathae family are unable to fly. Their wings have become smaller and smaller over the generations, and the muscles in their chest are not developed enough to let them fly."

  • Itty-Bitty Brains (Create 100 Paleoagnathaes):

"Paleoagnaths have small brains and are cognitively limited, making them one of the less intelligent types of birds. The one exception to this is the kiwi, which has a larger brain similar to that of a parrot."

  • Follow That Bird! (Create 150 Paleoagnathaes):

"Modern Paleoagnaths can run very quickly, with ostriches able to reach speeds of up to 60 km/h. Many extinct species were believed to have been able to run even faster."

  • Bird Buddies (Create 250 Paleoagnathaes):

"While they were once hunted to extinction, the large birds of the Paleoagnathae family are now prized. They are farmed by humans for their large eggs and meat, kept in zoos and as exotic pets, and even raced for human entertainment."

Trivia[]

  • "Palaeognathae" translates to "old jaws", referring to their palates, which have been described as more reptilian than other birds' palates. Reptiles are more ancient than birds.
