Galliformes is the 1st bird generator, and 5th Rise of Reptiles generator, unlocked in the game. It requires Mesozoic Valley Rank 23. Order Galliformes, also known as Landfowl, are a group of Class Aves.

Design[]

Livestock view

Galliforms next to the Livestock Upgrade.

Galliformes takes on the appearance of a rooster, a male chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus). Three roosters cluck around in the Plains section of the Land garden, some of them feeding on grains on the ground.

Three more Galliformes are present in the Neolithic section of the Civilization garden. They are next to a shepherd tending to some sheep, and the shepherd represents the Livestock Upgrade.

They cluck when clicked on.

In-Game Description[]

"A group of toothless, ground-dwelling birds. Along with Anseriformes, Galliformes are one of only two types of modern birds to date back to (and have survived) the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event."

Evolution Upgrades[]

All upgrades only require 1 Galliformes to unlock. Galliformes have seven Upgrades, contributing to a maximum pre-Singularity efficiency of x14,700. Weirdly, upgrade order doesn't correlate with cost order.

Upgrade Efficiency Cost Description Requirements
Wattle 100% EntropyEntropy 3.14 E22

"Dangling red skin found on the necks of certain birds, wattles help to attract a mate. Larger wattles are associated with high testosterone, and the ability to evade predators."

Digging 150% EntropyEntropy 6.28 E23

"Quails use their short, powerful legs to dig - both to create holes that they can use to hide in and to hunt for grubs, worms, and other insects."

x1 Galliformes
Chickens 300% EntropyEntropy 1.33 E26

"Chickens are small omnivorous birds that live in flocks. One of the most common domestic animals, both their eggs and meat provide a source of food for humans."

Wattle, Digging
Turkey 400% EntropyEntropy 2.69 E28

"Evolving in North America over 20 million years ago, turkeys are large birds known for their featherless heads and prominent neck wattles. They are often domesticated and are a popular source of meat."

Wattle, Chickens
Plumage 250% EntropyEntropy 8.60 E28

"Scientists are unsure of what caused the evolution of the peacock's colorful feathers; theories range from creating an appealing display to potential mates, to intimidating predators and other birds."

x1 Galliformes, Quail
Peacock 600% EntropyEntropy 1.72 E29

"Peacocks are known for their iridescent blue and green coloration and dramatic tail feather displays."

Plumage
Quail 500% EntropyEntropy 4.30 E30

"Quail are small, round birds with short, powerful legs used for digging. They prefer to run from danger than to fly, generally living on the ground."

Generator Achievements[]

  • The Chicken Shall Inherit the Earth (Create 25 Galliformes):

"There are more chickens today than there are humans - 25 billion of them! They are also the most populous group of birds on the planet, outnumbering other species due to their mass farming by humans."

  • Jungle Fowl Journeys (Create 50 Galliformes):

"Modern chickens can be found all over the world, but they initially appeared in Asia, where they were the subset of junglefowl. They were first domesticated in Southern China, around 8,000 years ago."

  • No Pheasantry for the Peasantry (Create 100 Galliformes):

"Recreational pheasant hunting has been popular in Great Britain for hundreds of years. At one period of time, forests would be deliberately planted in the countryside for the exclusive purpose of increasing the difficulty of the hunt."

  • That's One Way to Migrate (Create 150 Galliformes):

"Pheasants brought from England in the 18th and 19th century began to flourish when accidentally released in the state of Oregon in 1882. Today they can be found in over 40 US states, and live in the wild as well as being deliberately farmed."

  • Don't Lose Your Head (Create 250 Galliformes):

"In 1945, a farmer beheaded one of his chickens for supper. The axe missed the jugular vein, leaving most of the chicken's brain stem intact, and the chicken survived. Nicknamed Miracle Mike, this chicken survived 18 months without a head before eventually choking to death on a kernel of corn."
